Picking the right pickup truck is a challenge, with many options available at varying degrees of power and luxury. Some options are better suited for heavy workloads, while others are luxury vehicles that are best used for a drive through town. Regardless, we’ll be comparing the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 to discover what each vehicle offers best.

Cost and Trims

The Silverado comes in with a starting price of $57,829*, which is close to the Sierra’s starting cost of $59,029*. However, the range of trims offered by both models does differ, with the Sierra having eight compared to the nine offerings on the Silverado.

The highest starting price for a trim for the Chevrolet truck is $90,429*, while the GMC option’s highest trim tier starts at $101,854*. With the trim tiers, the difference in cost is far more noticeable.

Power and Performance

The pickup trucks both use a 2.7-litre TurboMax engine as the standard option for their base trims. This engine has a performance of 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft, giving each vehicle a relatively high amount of performance for the standard tier.

Higher trim offerings start to differ, with the highest trims having a 6.2-litre EcoTec3 V8 engine for the Silverado and a 3.0-litre Duramax Turbo Diesel engine as the standard for the Sierra. However, the 6.2-litre EcoTec3 V8 is available for an additional $1,775*.

The Interior and Space

The interior cabins of both vehicles are comfortable, with both models featuring a 40/20/40 front bench seat. Additionally, both models come with under-seat storage for additional cargo space. The rear seat for the trucks is a 60/40 folding split that helps with storage and seating. The seating trims differ, with the Silverado having cloth material while the Sierra comes with a vinyl material for its seats.

Technology and Connectivity Features

When it comes to speakers, the two models are equal, with each one’s base trim having a six-speaker system. The standard infotainment system for the Silverado and Sierra is a 7-inch touchscreen. However, both models come with their brand’s own software, creating some differences in features and utility.

Exterior Design and Functionality

Both trucks are sleek, giving a bold design that fits their rugged performance. Both models use 17-inch wheels for their base trims; the Sierra only has painted Silver wheels while the Silverado has Ultra Silver painted steel, Bright Silver painted aluminum, and even 18-inch Bright Silver painted aluminum wheels. Higher-tier trims have more options available for wheels and other features.
